Opening Doors
Investing in education strengthens our community. Post-Secondary bursaries provide educational opportunities to those in need. Bursaries are granted based on criteria such as financial hardship, community involvement, leadership, and academic accomplishments.
Bursaries are available for:
- Grade 12 graduates
- GED holders
- Mature students
Applicants must live within Halifax, bounded by Cogswell, North Park/Agricola, North, and Barrington Streets.

Building Legacies
Investing in offering free Will preparation for eligible seniors in the community enhances our commitment to supporting the well-being and security of its residents. It helps seniors protect their assets, ensures their wishes are honored, and provides peace of mind. This initiative strengthens HCIF’s role as a trusted community partner, promotes financial literacy, and fosters a sense of care and inclusivity, building stronger relationships with the community.

Halifax Community Investment Fund (HCIF) is committed to empowering our community by offering funding for Post-Secondary Education Bursaries, Will preparation, entrepreneurial partnerships, and sports and recreation initiatives. We help individuals access education, foster growth, and build a brighter future for Halifax.
Founded in 2007, HCIF manages a $1,000,000 community investment fund, supporting initiatives that enrich the local area.
The Leadership of a dedicated volunteer board manages and oversees our programs, ensuring our investment fund benefits those in need and strengthens our community.
The Halifax Community Investment Fund (HCIF) community is comprised of individuals, students, and organizations within Halifax who benefit from educational bursaries and local development initiatives. It includes dedicated volunteer board members, donors, and community partners, all working together to support financial need, leadership, and educational achievement in the region.
#Our Programs
HCIF Bursary awards are available for:
* Grade 12 students graduating from high school
* GED holders
* Mature students accepted into a post-secondary program
Eligible applicants must reside in the Halifax area bounded by Cogswell, North Park/Agricola, North, and Barrington Streets. Bursaries are awarded based on financial need, community volunteer work and leadership, and educational achievement.
